Congressional Medal of Honor Memorial
Recognized by an Act of Congress, this National Memorial with its opaque and translucent arcing glass sails, gathering of flags, and personal audio/video stories of heroism celebrates the courage of over 3,400 recipients of the highest award for military valor. In the tradition of civic gifts, we worked with both client and contractor to created in 8 short months a remarkably sculptural memorial that forges a bond between the emotions of veterans, school groups, families and everyday visitors both day and night. Built not to commemorate war, but to bear witness to the fragility and optimism of the human spirit, the memorial’s sweeping, polished concrete walls and evocative glass sails are enveloped by an ever evolving, rich and vibrant garden landscape.
