Cultural District Gateway: Fountain Square
Adjacent to a sunken Interstate, this measured work evolved on an abandoned property selected by the neighborhood as the site for a Cultural District gateway sculpture. The artist’s sculpture sought to celebrate the diverse history of Fountain Square through translucent panels of blue neon and historic photographs. The site design sought to reveal the original urban geometry removed by freeway construction in the 1970's. Our work etched the outlines of lost addresses and streets to remind us of the people who once helped build this community.
