Thomas Taggart Memorial
Through inspection, evaluation, and construction documents we developed strategies to turn this rare monumental legacy into an indispensable feature not only for Riverside Park, but Central Indiana. The historic core elements of the Memorial were to be restored and renovated to embrace universal ADA accessibility, install state-of-the art fountain systems, promote an associated sculptural program to create an artistic vision missing in the original abbreviated design, and integrate interpretive signage to share with visitors the importance of this man and his actions. Additionally new public spaces were designed to promote wider use of the Memorial in the daily lives of Indianapolis citizens either through scheduled events or informal gatherings.
