Lanier Mansion & Visitor Center
An unrealized work seeking to celebrate the genius of the lost works of early 19th Century architect Francis Costigan, and the return/restoration of West First Street across the front of the landmark Greek Revival mansion he designed in1840. Additionally we sought to create an outdoor terrace associated with a new Historic Madison Visitor Center, erecting tactile limestone scaled models of many of Costigan’s fine homes and public buildings now demolished in both Indiana and Kentucky. Set opposite his Lanier Mansion, visitors could have visually compared the diversity, originality and artistry of his architecture.
