West Michigan Street Corridor Plan

Originally engaged to develop an abandoned industrial site as the new Corporate Offices of Brownfields Development Group, the project scope broadened to establish a vision for the deteriorated Haughville urban street corridor. The intentions of this expanded vision was first meant to inspire a thriving, high quality environment for new businesses, and second was to direct actual proposed projects such as a new Branch Library and Elder Housing to specific sites that would begin to rebuild the urban street fabric. Other important issues stressed the preservation of the unique rural village character of the 19th Century side street/curb/landscapes, re-configuring Haughville Park into a more inviting and usable public green, and identifying future links to a proposed pedestrian/bike way and light rail corridor within an adjacent abandoned railroad R/W.
