Centerville/Center Township Public Library
The adaptive reuse of an historic 1868 Italianate Courthouse and 1925 service station into a unique public library provided the motivation for a reading garden just for kids, which had always been an important priority and dream for the Head Librarian who wished to stimulate learning opportunities and leave lasting memories. The intimate, recessed lawn and garden for children’s games and storytelling is entered thru gates playfully named ‘Timothy and ‘Beatrix’. On the National Road, US 40, the custom library signage evokes the early 20th Century automotive era that played such a significant role in the life of Centerville.
